So it's been 4 days since I started the new medicines. The first night I didn't sleep at all, the second night  I slept for about 4 hours, so on the 3rd night I took 2 Tylenol PM which helped me sleep, but last night I only took one Tylenol PM and didn't sleep well again. I'm concerned that I will need a sleeping pill with these pills but we'll just have to wait and see. Other then the sleep issues, I am having some physical side effects, including dry mouth, frequent urination (not a bad thing with my kidneys) and a general blah feeling. It's kind of like being on heavy duty pain pills. I feel like Jello, even typing this is a challenge...

Okay so I couldn't finish the post earlier, because I felt horrible. I've talked to the Dr and it appears that I'm having some side effects from the medication. I'll call again in the morning and see how they want to move forward. That being the case I'll post when I have more information.

  1. Sometimes the time of day you take medication can make all the difference. If you are having difficulty sleeping, speak to your Dr about taking your meds in the AM instead of at night, or vice versa. Also, did you dr tell you to start all meds at once? I ask because if so, you wont know which meds are causing what effects....but thats another issue :)

  2. I take my pills at night, and that's something we discussed when she prescribed the meds. I was told to start them all at once, the Celexa is one I've been on before so the side effects are from the Abilify. The concern is that it's affecting my blood sugars, so we'll see what the Dr's say tomorrow.

  3. I'm really glad to see you writing things out. It may help someone else that is going through some similar things. You are loved, my friend. Always!

  4. Thanks Angie, I'm really writing it for me, I won't be able to do therapy for a few months so I thought this was a good way for me to gather my thoughts and keep track of how things are changing. I love you too. xo

  5. I have a feeling the doc will tell you take your meds in the AM first. I think it is weird that you are starting them all at once...because usually you taper them in...so that if there is a side effect you can know exactly what meds are causing them. Also, I wouldn't take tylenol too much...don't rely on the tylenol for sleep...bad news bears!

BUT this blog will be super helpful for you when you start therapy, which I really hope you get to do! Your life will change!!! Just keep telling yourself this: Anxiety is the "most curable" mental illness. True words!! yes, it sucks to do...but if you stick it through, push yourself, and lean on your supports you can do it :)

  6. We didn't taper because we know how my body reacts to the Celexa so the only real new med was the Abilify. And I can't take my meds in the morning, which is why we switched back to the Celexa, but the Abilify is causing the sleep issues. If you read the side effect list from the Abilify, I have almost all of them but I'm also high risk because of the diabetes history. I'm hoping the will keep me on the meds but just have me monitor my blood sugars. I really want to find a combination that works. I won't over do the Tylenol pm, but lately it's been helping with more then just the sleep. If need be they will put me back on Ambien.

I will get to do the therapy, when we can afford it, but I'm working on that, so I just keep praying it will work out. I haven't gotten into the emotional post yet but I need to find a rhythm and then it will come out. I wish it was just the Anxiety, but all the other stuff on top of it will take a lot more work. The Anxiety is a result of the PTSD so once we start treating that hopefully the anxiety will start to ease up. Which I think will also help with the Agoraphobia.

    1. Your last paragraph hit the nail on the head :) PTSD is tough to work through, but push through it, challenge yourself, and don't give up! After you conquer that, the rest will be easy as pie :) <3
